How do I earn fees?
After you've completed your initial test call, you earn fees for all client calls you accept that last more than 10 seconds.
Calls with the Jeenie Sales and Quality Teams are considered client calls and you will be compensated for them. Your initial test call and troubleshooting calls by the Jeenie Team are not payable.
IMPORTANT: Customers have the option to disconnect before the end of two minutes (120 seconds) for no fee if they are dissatisfied with an interpreter's language skills or professionalism. If a customer disconnects their call with you for these reasons, you may not earn fees for the call. If you disagree with the customer’s claim of dissatisfaction, you may request that Jeenie review the call to determine if the customer’s allegations were warranted.
How are earned fees calculated?
Jeenie does not round to the nearest minute. We pay for every second you are connected with clients, provided the duration of the call is more than 10 seconds. At the end of each month, Jeenie combines the total duration of all calls and applies your per-minute rate(s).
If you have multiple rates, your call time is calculated separately per rate.
If your total call duration does not equal in a full minute (example: 60 minutes and 12 seconds), the additional time is paid at a per-second rate. Your per-second rate is calculated by taking your per-minute rate and dividing it by 60.
How is the duration of a call calculated?
The duration of a call is determined by the number of seconds both you (as the interpreter) and the client are connected to the session.
What is the cut-off for earning fees each month?
Jeenie uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) when processing payments.
Depending on your local time zone, a call taken on the last day of the month for you may be the 1st day of the new month UTC. (Example: A call taken at 10 PM EST on 31 January is 3 AM UTC on 1 February and will be paid with February's minutes.)
When will I get paid?
Starting March 2026, Jeenie transfers earned fees twice per month. Once your total monthly earned fees are calculated, payments are released in two installments:
-
First Installment (50%): Transferred to our payment processor on or by the 15th of the following month.
-
Second Installment (50%): Transferred to our payment processor on or by the 30th of the following month.
Note: Prior to March 2026, payments were made in a single full transfer within thirty (30) days of the end of the preceding month.
Please see “How will I know how much I was paid for a call?” for details on how to estimate your installment amounts.
How will I know funds have been transferred?
You will receive notifications from our payment processor that funds have been transferred to you. If you have not completed your payment profile, you will have the option to do so when you receive your first transfer.
If you didn't get your email or have questions about the amount you received, please reach out to linguists@jeenie.com for assistance.
How will I know how much I was paid for a call?
You can view the per-minute rate for each call using the Call History Export (available on the Web App only).
To estimate your upcoming installments:
- Log in to the Web App and navigate to Calls.
- Set the date range to a single calendar month (e.g., March 1 – March 31).
- Click the Export
- In the downloaded file, locate the estimated_payout_dollars column.
- Sum the total of that column to see your estimated monthly earnings.
- Divide that total by two to determine the approximate amount for each of your two monthly installments.
For a detailed walkthrough, check out our Download Call History FAQ.
Why is this an "estimate"?
Jeenie does not round to the nearest minute; we pay for every second you are connected (for calls over 10 seconds). We calculate your total monthly duration and apply your per-minute rate. If your total monthly duration includes partial minutes, we apply a per-second rate ((Per-Minute Rate) / 60).
Note: Because the estimated_payout_dollars column is a per-call calculation, your final monthly total (calculated on total duration) may vary slightly from the sum of the estimated column. See “How are earned fees calculated?” to learn more.
Can I request my earned fees earlier?
No, Jeenie is unable to send any payments for earned fees earlier than the dates listed above.
After your earned fees are transferred to our payment processor, they may give you the option to withdraw funds early, dependent on their policies. Jeenie does not promise or guarantee early withdrawal for earned fees.
Can I request to have all my earned fees paid at once instead of twice a month?
Yes, this would be on the 30th of the month. Jeenie is unable to send any payments for earned fees outside of the dates listed above. Our payment processor has two options when setting up your payout method. You can choose to have the payment sent as soon as it's available (on or by the 15th and 30th), or you can have them hold your earned fees until you manually request it on or after the 30th of the month.
If you want to receive one payment per month, Jeenie recommends turning off automatic payout, and instead manually request your funds when you're ready to receive them.
Are there fees to withdraw my earned fees?
Jeenie does not charge interpreters to receive their funds. However, depending on the payout method you select, there may be transaction fees as determined by our payment processor.
