Reasons for Permanent Deactivation on the Jeenie Platform
This article clearly outlines the few actions that can compromise our shared values and may lead to permanent account deactivation.
At Jeenie, professionalism, privacy, and trust are the foundation of every interaction. To maintain a safe and compliant environment for all users, including clients, interpreters, and Non-English preferred language (NEP) individuals, certain actions may lead to permanent account deactivation.

Below are the most common violations and their meanings:
HIPAA Violations
What counts as a HIPAA violation on the Jeenie platform?
Any action that compromises a client’s or NEP’s privacy is considered a HIPAA violation. Interpreters are required to take all calls in a private, confidential, and secure environment.
Examples of HIPAA violations include:
- Taking calls from public or shared spaces (cafés, vehicles, coworking areas, etc.).
- Having other people present or within earshot during calls.
- Allowing family members, friends, or colleagues to listen in.
- Recording, discussing, or sharing any part of a Jeenie session outside the platform.
- Using dictation, transcription, or translation tools that are not vetted or approved by Jeenie.
Why are outside tools prohibited?
These tools (such as automatic transcription apps, dictation features, or AI-based translation services) may store, record, or transmit sensitive patient information to third-party servers. This is a direct violation of HIPAA confidentiality standards, as Jeenie cannot guarantee how or where that data is handled once it leaves the secure Jeenie environment.
Even a single confirmed HIPAA breach may result in immediate and permanent deactivation, in line with Jeenie’s confidentiality policies and federal privacy requirements.
Use of Auto-Clickers or Automated Tools
Why is using an auto-clicker or automation tool not allowed?
Jeenie’s call system is designed to ensure fair and equal access to all interpreters. The use of auto-clickers or other automated tools gives an unfair advantage by accepting calls faster than humanly possible.
This behavior:
- Violates Jeenie’s Terms of Use.
- Disrupts fair call distribution for other interpreters.
- Can interfere with Jeenie’s platform performance and reporting systems.
Any account found using or attempting to use automation tools to grab calls will be permanently deactivated without warning.
Unprofessional Conduct
What kind of behavior is considered unprofessional?
Jeenie expects all interpreters to maintain professionalism at all times during sessions. Unprofessional behavior can damage the client relationship and the company’s reputation.
Examples include:
- Inappropriate attire (e.g., casual or revealing clothing during video sessions).
- Taking over the session instead of interpreting accurately and impartially.
- Disrespectful tone or behavior toward clients, LEPs, or Jeenie staff.
- Engaging in arguments, personal conversations, or unprofessional remarks.
- Eating, smoking, or multitasking during calls.
Multiple warnings or a single severe incident may lead to permanent deactivation.
Account Sharing or Fraudulent Activity
What happens if someone else uses my Jeenie account to take calls?
Sharing your Jeenie account with anyone — even a friend or family member — is strictly prohibited and considered fraud. Every interpreter must complete their own vetting, credentialing, and compliance process.
Examples of fraudulent activity include:
- Allowing another person to log in or interpret using your account.
- Selling or renting your account to others.
- Using another interpreter’s credentials to take calls.
- Misrepresenting your identity, language proficiency, or certifications.
- Remaining connected past the end of a session for any reason.
Why is staying connected past the end of a session prohibited?
Jeenie clients are billed for the services rendered based on the duration of each session, whether it is conducted via audio or video. Once a session concludes, all communication between the interpreter, client, and NEP must immediately stop.
Staying connected beyond the official end time of a session, even for a few extra seconds, may result in the client being charged for additional time they did not consent to. This behavior is considered fraudulent and a serious breach of Jeenie’s trust and integrity standards.
If an interpreter is found to have remained connected past the end of a call, Jeenie will immediately and permanently deactivate the interpreter’s account and refund the affected client.
Permanent deactivation decisions are made after thorough investigation and confirmation of the violation. Jeenie reserves the right to protect client privacy, financial integrity, and service quality at all times.
To avoid issues:
- Always follow ethical principles and HIPAA guidelines.
- Use only your own verified account.
- Disconnect immediately once a session ends.
- Report any suspicious activity or misuse to linguists@jeenie.com.
